Madison County Junior Fair Livestock Auction
Each year as the fair draws to a close, the Madison County Junior Fair Sale Committee hosts an auction so 4-H and FFA members can complete their livestock projects by selling their animals.
This year, the sale will start at 9 a.m. Saturday, July 16, in the Eby Youth Arena.
The order of sale will be poultry, rabbits, beef, dairy, swine, goats, and sheep. The Winners Circle sale will take place at 1 p.m. and will consist of Showman of Showmen, Premier Livestock Exhibitors, and Champions.
A great way to show support for the youths is to become a bidder or to offer “boosts.” To get a bidders’ packet before the fair, contact Doug Peterman at 614-206-5553. Or, to get a bidders’ packet on sale day, visit the clerk’s table. All bidders (including “boosts” — a donation that is added on to the seller’s total) must have a bidder number. Those who contribute boosts or win the bid are recognized during the sale.
All bids at the sale are premiums. The bidder is expected to pay the amount bid. For a bidder wishing to purchase the animal, the market price, weight and processing costs are available on sale day. The sale is terminal for full-grown market animals.
Boost cards can be picked up and turned in at the Senior Fairboard Office or at the clerk’s table during the sale.
