General Rules for Open Livestock Shows

  • Open livestock entries will be accepted online until 24 hours before start of that particular show for normal entry fee. Entries will also be accepted at time of check in for double the normal entry fee.
  • All exhibitors must purchase a season, student, daily admission, or Madison County Junior Fair pass.
  • All out-of-state livestock must have health papers.
  • Any animals showing signs of sickness or disease will require vet certification before showing.
  • Exhibitors must refrain from the use of any injected medication on animals at the fair, unless deemed appropriate by the fair vet in compliance with any necessary restrictions or withdrawal periods.
  • Exhibitor entry tags must be picked up in the fair office prior to weighing of animals.
  • All bedding is to be provided by the exhibitor. NO NEWSPAPER.
  • Any exhibitor using extension cords on the fairgrounds must use only properly grounded cords with three-pronged plugs. Inappropriate extension cords or adapters are not allowed for use.
  • When all entries are received, classes will be divided in an effort to equalize the number of exhibitors in each class.
  • Classes with less than four head may be subject to prorated premiums.
  • Entry fees for all breeding and market classes, excluding beef cattle, are $10 per head
    • Payouts – $15, $12, $8
  • Entry fee for all beef steers, heifers and feeders is $20/hd
    • Payouts – $30, $25, $20
  • Showmanship Order: Adult, Senior, Intermediate, Junior, Beginner, Pewee
  • Showmanship entries for all species is $10
    • *All ages as of Jan. 1, 2017

 

  • Champion Peewee (ages 2-5*) – Trophy
  • Reserve Champion Peewee – Trophy
  • Champion Beginner (ages 6-8) – $15
  • Reserve Champion Beginner – $10
  • Champion Junior (ages 9-11) – $15
  • Reserve Champion Junior – $10
  • Champion Intermediate (ages 12-14) – $15
  • Reserve Champion Intermediate – $10
  • Champion Senior (ages 15-18) – $15
  • Reserve Champion Senior – $10
  • Champion Adult (age 19 and older) -$15
  • Reserve Champion Adult – $10
  • Grand and Reserve Division Champions will return for Grand Overall Showman
    • All Third Place Division Winners will receive a ribbon
    • Champion Overall Showman – $100
    • Reserve Champion Overall Showman – $50
